About the NEET exam

National Eligibility and Entrance Test or NEET is the one examination which would be considered for filling about 54,000 medical seats across the country.

Eligibility

Age Limit : 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year.

Educational Qualification : Passed class 12 or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as core subjects.

Minimum Marks : Scored a minimum of 50% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC) in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, & Biology.

Nationality : Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI). NRIs, PIOs, and foreign nationals can also apply.

Attempts : There is no limit on the number of attempts for NEET.

Syllabus

The NEET syllabus is based on the NCERT curriculum of class 11 and 12. The questions asked in the exam are of multiple-choice type (MCQs). Candidates are advised to go through the syllabus thoroughly and focus on the important topics to score well in the exam.

The NEET syllabus includes the following subjects:

  • Physics : Laws of Motion, Thermodynamics, Work, Energy and Power, Electrostatics, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices.

  • Chemistry : Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, States of Matter: Gases and Liquids, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Hydrogen, s-Block Elements (Alkali and Alkaline earth metals), Some p-Block Elements, Organic Chemistry- Some Basic Principles and Techniques, Hydrocarbons, Environmental Chemistry.

  • Biology : Diversity in Living World, Structural Organization in Animals and Plants, Cell Structure and Function, Plant Physiology, Human Physiology, Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Biology and Human Welfare, Biotechnology and Its Applications, Ecology and Environment.
